Portfolio: A Contemporary Parterre
The Brief: To design a knot garden of classical geometry
The knot garden is of classical design but with a contemporary twist that makes reference to the modern architecture. The plant palette for this north facing garden under a sycamore tree toleartes deep shade very successfully. Variegated Euonymus 'Emerald Gaiety' contrasts with the dark green foliage of clipped box cones and yew columns set against the cream elevations. A central Acer dissectum glows in the autumn, and a border of winter flowering shrubs provide seclusion inside the roadside railings.
